My cousin is engaged in the B.C. Teachers’ strike. Having dedicated the better part of her life to teaching kids, staying current in her field, doing her Masters Degree, etc., now our infamous Gordon Campbell.. hard ass.. give it away and outsource it… bust up the unions… “Liberals” in Bushisa-sheeps clothing—have put her on the street to fight for a Fair Deal, something people who observe history know was the watershed of North American Liberalism. Something the conservative movement have vowed to outright destroy.
I think it’s in our interests to maintain somewhat of a public school system that hasn’t been entirely forced into the quagmire of making exceedingly frugal budgets work by giving Coca Cola vendors and their ilk free reign over their food system, and having bake sales to fund extra-circular activities, etc., Don’t you? Then here’s a petition she sent me:
Fw: online message to BC govt
The BCTF has provided this petition that you may send to the government to protest the use of legislation instead of negotiation.

Subject: FW: online message to BC govt
If you have not seen this yet, and if you’re inclined to put your name on the petition, please go to the website below. (it takes about 30 seconds to
complete).

Since our teachers have become constitutionally unable to excercise their rights under the labor codes the “Liberals” have tweaked towards outsourcing to Foreign corporations (read Accenture), that, otherwise guaranteed an organization’s right to withhold services when faced with a contract that was unnegotiable, which, was hastened two years into the future by the “Liberals” in Victoria, who decided it would be sufficient to threaten the over 40,000 teachers in this Province of B.C. with potential jail time for breaking the “law” by striking.
